My research program uses beetles as model organisms for studies of phylogeny, taxonomy, ecology, and conservation biology. Beetle families that are of particular interest to me include Cicindelidae (tiger beetles), Cleridae (checkered beetles), and Melyridae (soft-winged flower beetles). Questions of current interest include the effects of suburban and exurban development on rare insect populations, and also the relative importance of beetles as pollinators of flowering plants. |
